Key high-level modeling patterns have been identified over the last several years that are increasingly replacing ad hoc components of the Financial Industry Business Ontology (FIBO). Testing with user/contributor data sets has proven that reusing these patterns increases user understanding as well as efficiency in applications of such a large and complex ontology. Some are similar to patterns found in other pattern libraries, but others are novel.
