Study on Environmental Protection Performance of Anti-collapse Agents with Different Hydrophobic Chain Lengths 1 Basic characteristics of bentonite The bentonite used in the drilling fluid of Xiazi Street in Xinjiang is mainly montmorillonite, and there exists small amount of other impurities, such as feldspar, quartz and kaolinite in it. Therefore, in order to understand the structural characteristics of bentonite more clearly, XRD analysis was carried out to determine the phase composition of the sample. The result is shown in Fig. 1. Fig. 1 XRD pattern of bentonite for drilling fluid in Xiazi Street It can be seen from Fig. 1 that the main mineral components of bentonite for Xiazi Street drilling fluid are montmorillonite, quartz and kaolinite. The XRD pattern shows that the main diffraction peak is montmorillonite, and the montmorillonite contains kaolinite, indicating that the mineral has strong hydrolysis. In addition, the size of the bentonite was characterized through a laser particle size analyzer. The results are shown in Fig. 2. Fig. 2 Particle size analysis of bentonite for drilling fluid in Xiazi Street From Fig. 2, we can see that the particle size distribution of bentonite is 64.78% between 1~10μm, 25.1% between 0~1μm, 10.06% between 10~100μm, and 0.03% over 100μm.
