Substitution of ƞ5-Cyclopentadienyl Iron Carbonyl Halides by Diphenylcyclopropenone

Depertment of Chemistry, University College, Dublin, ireland Subtitution of the \(n\)5-cyclopcntadienyl iron carbonyl halides C5H5Fe(CO)2X by diphenylcyclopropenone (DPCP) yields the complexes L(DPCP)3 FeX][FeX4 ] ; X=CI, Br, J in addition to ferrocene and \(n\)-C5H5Fe(CO)2]2 as byproducts. The reaction mechanism is discussed in terms of normal nucleophilic substitution and a possible radical process
