Etymological peculiarities of Uzbek and English toponyms

Toponyms characterized the essential unit of that from the ancient time they have been an integral part of human life and will continue to be so. Because we know through the investigation of toponyms different peoples and nations' history, geographical places, climate, values, location and many other important features. The main purpose of this article is to study the similarities and differences between the history of Uzbek and English place names, how they were named. The research is based on Uzbek and English toponyms, their etymology, similarities and differences; a few principles of toponyms; types and importance of toponyms. Article revealed division of 2 principal groups of toponyms: divided in two principal groups: geonyms and cosmonyms. Besides that the importance of Uzbek and English place names in our modern life, the difficulties in studying them and interesting information are contained in the article. By reading the article we will find answers to questions such as who gave the place names and why it is so called. Also this paper considers quantative and qualitative toponyms, their significance, identity and distinction. The most useful geographical reference system in the world is toponyms.
