Ekspresowa Analiza Zagrożenia Agrofagiem: Zaprionus indianus

Zaprionus indianus is a species of small fly whose larvae feed in many species of fruit, usually already damaged by other pests or diseases. At the present time, this agrophage can be brought to Poland with imported fruit. Climatic conditions in our country prevent permanent establishment of this species, but there is a possibility of forming ephemeral populations during warmer months. Phytosanitary measures should consist of inspecting imported fruit for colonization by Z. indianus larvae. The risk of temporary colonization of this species under the conditions of our country, however, exists only in the warmer months, so during this time phytosanitary inspections phytosanitary inspections should be particularly thorough, especially when importing fruit from areas where the species is common.
