Creating comfortable living conditions and maintaining proper technical conditions of the housing stock through the reconstruction of obsolete buildings is one of the key tasks of urban planning. Ukraine's lag behind other European countries in this regard can be explained by the imperfections in the legislations, the difficult economic situation, and the peculiarities of the legal status of housing ownership. To solve this problem a sociological survey in the form of a questionnaire was conducted. Data were analysed using non-parametric Chi-square tests and thematic analysis.
