Double fed induction generator (DFIG) has shown tremendous success in wind turbines due to its flexibility and ability to regulate the active and reactive power. However, the presence of brushes and slip rings affects its reliability, stability, and power quality. Furthermore, it does not provide promising outcomes in case of faults even in presence of the crowbar circuit.
