Abstract

Introduction: Pterygium appears as a fleshy vascular mass that occurs in the inter palpebral fissure. The typical pterygium is triangular in shape and is made up of a cap, head and body. It is more frequently located nasally rather than temporally.The cause of pterygium is not known but those who work outside in the sun and wind are more prone to develop pterygium probably from conjunctival irritationand is more common in tropical & subtropical region with a reported prevalence of 2 to 7 % worldwide.
