Sources of Authority in Islam

Each religious tradition has its own authentic sources of authority, which are referred to for authentication of religious practices and traditions. Islam too has its own sources of authority both oral as well as written. These sources were the mainspring of Islamic law. In fact law' in the form of Shari‘ah is most central to Islam. Shari‘ah law holds the centre stage in Islamic tradition except for some Islamic sects and Sufi traditions.
