Geo-economic Perspectives in the Global Environment

Abstract: The Journey of foreign policy in independent India had begun before India’s independence, when The Asian relation conference took place in New Delhi in March – April 1947. It was hosted by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who was then de facto Prime Minister of the provisional Government preparing for India’s independence. From India’s Independence till now, there have been six significant changes to India’s foreign policies. After attaint independence from colonial masters in 1947, India has always cherished its principles of free and humanistic nature for the world, so India has supported China for a permanent seat in U.N. Security Council. However, on the other hand, China has always criticized India for being sympathetic to the western world. We also witness the shift of economic power and ascendance of economic Activities from the Western world to the Indo-Pacific order. Analysts and policymakers talk about the beginning of the Asian century with the start of the 21st century. New priorities and necessities, statecraft and diplomacy, are taking on newer forms. India has established itself as the emerging global power in the world, so there is a need to re-shape its foreign policy and re-branding itself into a diplomatic and political sphere of the world. India has seen a tectonic Policy Shift regarding China in Indian foreign policy after the stunning victory of BJP in 2014. As a New Partnership, we gradually strengthen our Economical, Defense, and Diplomatic relations with the United States of America and the Western world. The Chinese Rise in Indo- Pacific region poses a significant threat to peace and stability in the world. Four democratic countries like the U.S., Australia, India, and Japan have formed an organization known as QUAD to deal with these threats. New Strategic Narratives are emerging in the world’s geopolitics. These make it imperative to now discuss and deliberate on this vital theme employing a multidisciplinary approach.
