U.K. Manuscript received 14 January 2986, revised 19 May 1986, accepted 2 August 1986 Five samples of Ni A-zeolites (16.6-76.6% exchanged) were prepared and investigated. Gravimetric, magnetic and diffuse reflectance spectroscopic studies showed that the NiII ions are octahedrally coordinated in fully hydrated type A-zeolite. Magnetic results indicated that the reciprocal of molar susceptibility decreases with increasing NiII content in the zeolitic framework. The replacement of Nal by NiII increases the zeolitic water.
