A Review Report on Sustainable Studies on Geopolymer Concrete

Ordinary Portland Cement plays a major role in the field of construction. But due to the ecological imbalances created during the production of Portland cement regarding the emissions of green house gases into the atmosphere which results to global warming, there is a need to think about the alternative sustainable material to replace the Ordinary Portland Cement material. In this regard, Davidovits (1978) conducted a series of experiments on the supplementary cementitious materials (SCM’s) by using the Potassium , Sodium based alkaline activators in the SCM’s and created a new material which is a cement less binder, coined as Geopolymer material. This paper presents a brief review report on the sustainable studies on geopolymer concrete viz., fresh and hardened properties like initial, final setting time, normal consistency, mechanical properties and durability studies etc
