Ethıcal Issues Faced By Surgıcal Nurses In The Covıd-19 Pandemıc

Introduction: A pandemic was declared in December 2019 due to the contagious respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which was first detected in China as an unexplained severe acute respiratory syndrome. Due to the different clinical prognosis of the disease, the variability of the age groups, its rapid spread, and the increase in the number of patients and deaths day by day, the workload in hospitals has increased and healthcare professionals continued their duties under risk. With the increasing workload, while healthcare professionals continue to protect their own health and nursing care practices, approaches to vulnerable groups and ethical problems have come to the fore. Purpose: In this review, there are reviews about the ethical problems faced by surgical nurses who provide direct care to patients during the pandemic management process. Method: In this study, literature review, one of the qualitative research methods, was used. In the literature search, a search was made with the keywords "covid, epidemic, pandemic, surgical nursing, ethics". Findings: For ethical problems experienced during the pandemic process; Many studies in the literature reveal that although nurses are concerned about their own health and the health of their families, they are aware of the occupational risks and work with a sense of duty and devotion. Conclusion: Surgical nurses are in a professional group that is at serious risk in terms of health, occupational safety and psychosocial hazards during the pandemic process. surgical nurses; should fulfill their professional roles and responsibilities in line with the principles of not harming-usefulness, autonomy/respect for the individual, privacy and confidentiality, justice and equality. In order to minimize the negative effects and to take the right steps towards ethical problems; International ethical guidelines should be established for the COVID-19 pandemic
