Synthesis, spectral characterization and reactivity of chloro diphenyltin(Iv) dithiocomplexes having Sn-S bonds

School of Studies in Chemistry, Jiwaji University, Gwalior-474 011, India E-mail : sksrivas5@ yahoo.com Manuscript received 13 April 2005, accepted 5 August 2005 The chloro diphenyltin(IV) complexes with the composition [(C6H5)Sn(Cl){S(S)P(OR)2)]and [(C6H5)2Sn(CI){S(S)POGO (R = C2H5; G = -CH2C(H)CH3, -CH2(CH2)3CH2-) have been prepared by the reaction of diphenyltin(IV) dichloride with NH4 salt of O,O'-ialkyl/alkylene dithiophosphate in absolute methanol at room temperature. The complexes have been characterized by their analytical data, IR, 1H and 31P NMR spectra. Lewis base character of the complexes has been established by reacting them with HgII, CdII and AgI salts. The heterobimetallic adducts are formed through the coordination of the sulfur atom of chloro diphenyltin(IV) O,O'dialkyl/ alkylene dithiophosphate to the soft metal acceptor
