Biblical perspectives - in the plural. Rightly so. For there are several. To perspectives on peace correspond those on war. Both war and peace can have three dimensions: historical-political, cosmic-eschatological and interior-spiritual. Spiritual peace is often born of, and grows through spiritual warfare against injustice and sin. Both are therefore accorded encouragement and support. Eschatological war is envisaged with ardour because it is the definitive elimination of whatever is hostile to authentic and lasting peace
