Open access publishing of scientific results enables a diverse range of publications to reach users of scientific information. This increases the accessibility of science, but also creates the preconditions for unethical practices in scientific publishing related to the emergence of structures that duplicate elements of the referencing, indexing, and evaluation system. The present paper focuses on one of these challenges, namely the emergence of fake versions of authentic scientific journals.
