C6H4 -(COOH)-N- N-C6H4·N(CH5)2 (LH) (an indicator with a pH range 4.5-6.5) possesses a chelating behaviour. Its chelates with a number of divalent metal ions, Mg(ll), Ca(ll), Sr(ll), Ba(ll), Zn(II), Cd(II), Pb(ll), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Co(II), of the type ML2 have been isolated and characterised on the basis of their elemental analyses, ir and visible spectra, and magnetic and molar conductance studies.
