It is a huge social problem and a challenge to the healthcare system. Diabetes is not more likely to cause SARS-CoV-2 infection than in other individuals in the population, but it is more likely to develop severe complications in these patients. In well-managed diabetes, the risk of “post-covid” complications is the same as in the rest of the population.
