The article analyzes the ontological and legal dimension of the doctrine of natural law identifies key determinants that originate from human nature and have a direct impact on the development of legal attributes of legal existence in social relations. The position of the doctrines of J. Locke and T. Hobbes was studied, the place of the natural-anthropological context of law in the formation of «legal man» was revealed. The author found that the natural sources of legal meanings have their own division: cosmic and natural-anthropological law. Cosmic law is related to the natural regulatory processes that take place in universe and man can only contemplate and implement them in social relations.
