Department of Chemistry, Marathwada University, Aurangabad Manuscript received 15 April 1976 ; accepted 27 April 1976 The interaction of Nd2+ ion with salicylhydroxamic acid and 5-methyl, 5-chloro, 5-bromo, 5-nitro, 4-chloro, 4-bromo and 3-chloro salicylhydroxamic acids is investigated potentiometrically by Calvin-Bjerrum titration technique at 30°±0.1° and ionic strength M(NaClO4) in 50% v/v dioxane-water mixtures. Nd3+ forms only 1:1 chelates with these ligands. The validity of the log K= a pK + b relationship is examined for these chelates
