The article deals with the narrator’s self-identification in L. Andreyev’s (1871-1919) and M. Haretsky’s (1893-1938) epistolary texts are investigated in the comparative aspect. The goal of the work is to determine forms of representation of the narrator’s self-identification in the letters and its specificity in L. Andreyev’s and M. Haretsky’s epistolary texts. Material of the research is the texts of L. Andreev's letters (for M. Gorky, N.A. Chukmaldina), the texts of M. Haretsky's letters (for E.F. Karsky, L.U. Haretskaya, parents), which reflect the aspect of self-identity most vividly. use Comparative and cultural-historical methods are used in the work.
