ТРАНСФОРМАЦІЯ СТРУКТУРИ СМЕРТНОСТІ НАСЕЛЕННЯ В УМОВАХ КОВІДНОЇ ПАНДЕМІЇ

In modern conditions, the trends of the main demographic parameters in Ukraine and especially threatening mortality rates are of particular concern. In the historical retrospective (1990-2020), we have identified five periods in the dynamics of mortality of Ukrainians, focusing on the fifth period itself (2017-2020). Despite the obvious impact of Covid-19 morbidity on the overall mortality rate, Ukrainians suffer significantly from the leading causes of death, which have virtually fallen out of the attention of physicians due to the introduction of social isolation and distancing. There is a demand from society for greater transparency in the government's response to the pandemic and a broader statistical reflection of morbidity and mortality, objectively necessary for scientific analysis and practical steps. In Ukraine, as in European countries, the cohort of people of working age is shrinking. The reduction in the number of male population of working age in Ukraine is occurring at an alarmingly high rate, and the social policy of the state should be focused on this, as, after all, on public health. It is good that in the country, at the Presidential level, the nationwide program Healthy Ukraine, aimed at increasing the life expectancy of Ukrainians, has been initiated. So far, the social policy of the state has been rather one-sided, aimed at increasing the birth rate. Stimulation of birth rates in the country is also necessary, because the demographic prospects are extremely disappointing. However, the state's encouragement should be manifested not only in payments at the birth of a child, but also in the further policy of supporting families: at the level of children's access to preschools, the opportunity to attend free clubs and sections, the restoration of free meals for junior school students, compliance with the optimal number of children in a kindergarten group/class, receiving various scholarships, before passing regular medical examinations, etc
