DON EN SISTEMAS SILVOPASTORALES ENCALADOS Y FERTILIZADOS CON LODOS DE DEPURADORA URBANA. EFECTO RESIDUAL

Los incendios forestales se relacionan con los parámetros climáticos y con la cantidad de combustible vegetal que hay en el sotobosque, su inflamabilidad y su combustibilidad. En este sentido la implantación de sistemas de manejo que ayuden al empradizamiento del sotobosque reducen la combustibilidad de los montes, a la vez que facilitan las tareas de extinción de incendios. La mejora de la fertilidad edáfica favorece el desarrollo de las especies herbáceas frente a las leñosas, reduciendo el riesgo de incendios, a la vez que contribuye a mejorar la producción pascícola y forestal. El objetivo de este estudio ha sido evaluar el efecto del encalado, la fertilización inorgánica y la fertilización con 4 dosis de lodo de depuradora urbana (que implicaban 0, 160, 320 y 480 kg N total ha-1) durante tres años (1998, 1999 y 2000) sobre la producción de pasto en el sotobosque y el crecimiento del arboladoen el año 2002, en un sistema silvopastoral con pino insigne establecido sobre un suelo muy ácido del municipio de Pol (Norte de Lugo, Galicia, España). Se observó que la mejora de la fertilidad favoreció el crecimiento de los pinos, provocando el cierre de copas y el incremento de la proporción de acículas en el suelo. La cobertura y producción del tapiz herbáceo se relacionaron, como era de esperar, negativamente en relación con la proporción de acículas y material senescente en el suelo y el crecimiento del arbolado. La reducción de la densidad inicial o la ejecución de clareos y claras es indispensable para mejorar la respuesta del arbolado y el pasto a la fertilización. - Forest fires are related to climatic parameters and the amount of fuel plant in the understory. In this sense the introduction of adequate management will allow an herbaceous layer development which would reduce the combustibility of forests. The improvement of soil fertility favours the development of the herbaceous species, reducing the risk of fire, and improving pasture and forest production. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of the lime, inorganic fertilization and fertilizationwith four doses of urban sewage sludge (which implies 0, 160, 320 and 480 kg N ha-1) over three years (1998, 1999 and 2000) on understory production and the growth of trees in 2002, in a silvopastoral system with Pinus radiata D.Don established on a highly acidic soil from (Pol, North of Lugo). It was observed that the fertility improvement favoured pine trees growth causing canopy closure and the increment of the proportion of pine leaves over the soil. The closure and production of the herbaceous layer were negatively related, as expected to the proportion of needles and senescent material in the soil and the growth of trees. The reduction in the initial density or the execution of clear and clearcut is essential to improve the response of trees and grass to the fertilization
