The second half of twentieth century has generally been referred to as ‘postmodern.’ The term ‘postmodern’ and its derivatives like postmodernism and postmodernity refer to a movement “at once fashionable and elusive”. They reflect a shared sense of an end or at least the decline of some structure called ‘modernism’ that had been reigning supreme in the West for several centuries (Smith 1996: 3).
