The Santals are an indigenous people. Whatever their origin, the scholars opine that they have inhabited India before the Aryan invasion. If they have lived in India for so long, why are they so unknown a people Why have they been so obscure Their obscurity may lie in the fact that they are peace loving people. They concern a peaceful habitat with their land and environment. Their basic life provision is agriculture. They concern themselves with the deeper dimension but not many have popularized this aspect of their life. The article hopes to arouse curiosity and interest in these people.
