This study shows the results of an analytical reading of two works of different types of art but developing the same plot. The “The Reluctant Hero” (1904) story of I. Franko is a typical example of Ukrainian classical literature of the 19th century, it reflects the mood and ideas of those days. The graphic novel by Mihai Timoshenko & Cyril Gorishny “The Reluctant Hero” (2015–2018) based on the novel by I.
