Activity of Socio-cultural Lemko Organizations of the USA, Canada and Ukraine in the 20th Century

The purpose of the article is to investigate the problem of the history of emigration of Lemkos and Rusyns to Canada and the United States, and reveal the areas of activity of the Lemko and Rusyn cultural organizations. The research methodology consisted in the combination of methods of cognition, caused by the requirements of the objective analysis of historical sources, which reflect the main trends of the development and functioning of socio-cultural Lemko, Rusyn and Carpatho-Rusyn organizations of the United States, Canada, Ukraine, etc. The scientific novelty of the work lies in a comprehensive coverage of the history of emigration and the disclosure of the dynamics of the development of cultural-social organizations and the process of formation and establishment of the national-ethnic identity of Lemkos, Rusyns and Carpatho-Rusyns in general. Conclusions. It was proved that Lemkos (Rusyns) had suffered severe historical trials in a long time but, despite everything, gathering together in socio-cultural organizations, did and continue doing a lot of useful things and activities aimed at popularizing their traditions, partial preservation of their native dialect and establishment of their self-identification in our time
