Ookami [1] is a computing technology testbed funded by NSF (grant OAC 1927880). It provides researchers worldwide with free access to Fujitsu A64FX compute nodes. Those are the same as in the world’s current fastest machine, Fugaku at the RIKEN supercomputing center in Japan. The motivation behind Ookami is to provide researchers with access to this new technology to allow them to understand its strengths and weaknesses and port their applications to it. Ookami was installed in 2020 followed by an initial phase with friendly user access. Since the beginning of 2021 the cluster is open to researchers worldwide.
