Synthesis of some Bimetallic Trinuclear RuII NiII-RuII Complexes

S University, Rewa-486 003 Manuscript received 31 August 1993 Reactions of [Ni(PPh3)2L2]2+ {L = 4-cyanopyridine, 1,4-dicyanobenzene, 1,4-dicyanopiperazine, 1,4-dicyano-trans-2-butene (referred hereafter as CNPy, DCB, PPz and DCBT respectively) with [Ru(ɳ5 -C5H5)CIE2] {E2 = (PPh3)2, (AsPh3)2, Sb(Ph3)2 and dppm} have been carried out in presence of suitable anions like BF4, BPh4, PF6 and CIO4, to obtain cationic bimetallic trinuclear complexes of the type [RuII-NiII-RuII]2+. The reaction products have been characterised by elemental analyses and ir, electronic, 1H, 13C and 31P nmr spectral studies
