EVOLUTION OF VLAN

Enterprise networks are large and complex and their designs must be frequently altered to adapt to cha nging organizational needs. The process of redesigning an d reconfiguring enterprise networks is ad-hoc and e rror-prone,and configuration errors could cause serious issues such as network outages. Earlier,a Local Area Net work (LAN) was defined as a network of computers located withi n the same area. Today,they are defined as a singl e broadcast domain. In this paper,we take a step towards syste matic evolution of network designs in the context o f virtual local area networks (VLANs).We focus on VLANs giving thei r importance and prevalence,the frequent need to c hange LAN designs,and the time-consuming and error-prone process of making changes. A virtual LAN,commonly known as VLAN,is a group of networking devices in the same broadcast domain logically. A VLAN is a gr oup of hosts with a common set of requirements that commun icate as if they were attached to the same wire,re gardless of their physical location. A VLAN has the same attrib utes as a physical LAN,but it allows for end stati ons to be grouped together even if they are not located on th e same LAN segment. Network reconfiguration can be done through software instead of physically relocating d evices. Network Resource is opened for every user i n LAN.
