India’s leather industry has grown drastically, transforming from a mere raw material supplier to a value-added product exporter. However, in recent time it has gone through various transformation and government policies shift that has affected the growing potential of the industry. Changes such as environmental regulation, demonetization, Goods and service tax (GST), availability of raw material, and recent competition from synthetic leather affect the leather industry in many negative ways.
