W Polsce, jak wynika z badań NATPOL w 2011 r. na nadciśnienie tętnicze chorowało 32% dorosłych Polaków. Wśród chorujących na nadciśnienie tętnicze 9% mimo rozpoznanej choroby nie poddaje się leczeniu, a 36% chorych leczy się nieskutecznie. Choroby układu sercowo-naczyniowego takie jak zawał serca, udar mózgu, niewydolność serca, czy choroba tętnic obwodowych w dużej mierze są zależne od wysokości ciśnienia tętniczego. Obniżenie ciśnienia tętniczego o 5 mm Hg zmniejsza ryzyko poważnych zdarzeń sercowo-naczyniowych o 11,9% w grupie młodszych chorych i o 9,1% wśród starszych pacjentów. Skuteczne leczenie nadciśnienia tętniczego wciąż pozostaje dużym wyzwaniem ze względu na charakter choroby i przewlekły proces leczenia. W leczeniu nadciśnienia tętniczego istotnym problemem jest to, że pacjenci zapominają o przyjmowaniu leków, przyjmują je z opóźnieniem lub zaprzestają przyjmować przepisany preparat całkowicie. Zaprzestanie leczenia u pacjentów z nadciśnieniem tętniczym zwykle prowadzi do podniesienia ciśnienia do wartości sprzed leczenia. Istotną kwestią jest położenie dużego nacisku na indywidualizację i dostosowanie leku/leków do pacjenta tak, aby chory w jak najmniejszym stopniu odczuwał niepożądane skutki zażywanych leków, osiągając przy tym jak najlepsze korzyści. Słowa kluczowe: nadciśnienie tętnicze, leczenie farmakologiczne, niesystematyczne stosowanie leków. Abstract: Hypertension remains the most important risk factor for premature death, not only in Poland but worldwide. The Natpol research conducted in 2011 shows that 32% of adult Poles suffers from hypertension. About 9% of the hypertensive patients doesn’t start treatment despite of the diagnosis, and the treatment is inefficient in 36% of cases. The cardiovascular system diseases like heart attack, stroke, heart failure or the peripheral artery disease are significantly dependent on the blood pressure level. Lowering the blood pressure of every mm Hg reduces the risk of serious cardiovascular events in the group of younger patients and older patients. The effective treatment of hypertension is still a big challenge due to the nature of this disease and the long term treatment process. The treatment of hypertension is problematic since patients forget about taking medication, take the particular doses with delay or completely stop using the prescribed medication. The treatment termination usually leads to a blood pressure rise to the same level as before treatment. The key issue is stressing the importance of suiting the medication to the patients individual needs. The purpose is that the patient feels the least side effects with the best possible therapeutic effect. Keywords: Hypertension, pharmacological treatment, unsystematic drug us
