The classification model for navigational risks has been developed, which makes it possible to systematize and characterize their types and groups. It is built on the basis of a universal classification of enterprise risks and the "Navigation Risk Analyzer", which determines the list of factors that exist in the vessel's voyage cycle. An analysis of the causes of accidents and navigation risks in the Turkish (Bosphorus and Dardanelles), Singapore, Malacca and Tokyo Straits carried out. It is established that the navigation risk factor does not depend on the voyage area, but depends on the external environment and navigational characteristics of the area
