During the last six years, teachers in Greece, experienced a dramatic reduction in their earnings. The Maslach Burnout Inventory, as adapted for teachersGr in Greece, was used to assess the perceived level of burnout among secondary school teachers in the region of Achaia, West Greece. The results indicate high level of professional burnout, emotional exhaustion, and personal accomplishment, but low depersonalization in the teachers. There was a significant effect of personal factors on the perceived level of burnout. Age, length of service and number of children, had a moderating effect on burnout levels.
