Violence Against Women : A key determinant of health and wellbeing

This chapter has a particular focus on intimate partner violence. However many of the concepts canvassed in it also apply to other forms of violence against women. In this chapter we: • summarise data indicating the prevalent and serious nature of this violence, and in particular its impacts for women's health • discuss known determinants of intimate partner violence • present a public health approach to the primary prevention of this violence
