We describe the strategy, data reduction tools and the results of the supernova search project SUDARE, a program aimed at measuring the rate of supernovae in the redshift range between 0.2 and 0.8. The search was performed at ESO VST telescope in two extragalactic fields, CDFS and COSMOS. Light curves and color informations of the transient sources Were used to select and classify SNe. We obtained a final sample of 147 SNe composed be 54% of SNIa and 49% Core Collapse events. We found that SN Ia rate per unit of mass is higher by a factor of six in the star-forming galaxies with respect to the passive galaxies identified as such both on the U − V vs V − J colour-colour diagram and for their sSFR, and the CC SN rate per unit mass is propor...
