The Building sector is a major contributor to Green House Gas (GHG) emissions as more than 40% of the total energy consumed in the EU is used to cover the needs for heating, cooling and electricity of buildings. Taking into account the unprecedented pace of urbanization, it becomes more than clear that cities now hold a pivotal role in the efforts of securing a more sustainable future.
