In the present work, an expression for the efficiency of a thermoelectric generator is obtained and analyzed taking into account the Thomson effect. The contribution of the Thomson effect to the efficiency is estimated. An analytical expression for the efficiency of an anisotropic thermoelectric generator has also been obtained.
