This article defines the concept of judicial control in criminal proceedings and provides a comparative analysis of the scientific views of national and foreign researchers on this topic. In particular, narrow and broad definitions were discussed, aimed at revealing the essence of the concept of judicial control, views on its acceptance as a pre-trial and judicial institution.
