National Chemical Laboratory, Pune-411 008 Ferrocenyl hydrazones of the type FeCH - N- NH - C -Ar [where Fe = C6H5Fe- C5H4; Ar-C6H5(I),C6H4Cl(Il),C6H4NO2(III),C6H4 OH(IV) and C6H4N(V)] form stable tin derivatives when reacted with triphenyltin acetate in benzene solution. Com· pound(l) gives hexacoordinated, octahedral tin(IV) complex, compound(ll) gives pentacoordinated, trigonal bipyramidal tin(IV) complex, while compounds(lII-V) give acetoxy bridged tin(lV) complexes which are dimeric in nature in solid form and monomeric an nature in chloroform solution. Evidences for their coordinated structurei have been obtained from ir, pmr spectra and elemental analysis
