3,4-Coumarinopyrones. Part II. Synthesis of Some Coumarino-(3',4'-5, 6)- α-Pyrones

Coumarino-(3', 4', 5, 0) \(\alpha\)-pyrone derivatives have been synthesised by the Pechmann condensation of a number of 4-hydroxycoumarins with \(\beta\)-ketonic esters. Some of these coumarinopyrones have been degraded by the Belies of alkali in an interesting manner. The mechaniam for degradation is explained. A few 4-hydroxycoumarins have elan been synthesised
