The constitution of India serves as a tool for the functioning of the government. For a state to be built on the rule of law, it must have a strong basis in the Constitution, which lays out how the various parts of government interact with each other and with the people. As a nation's constitution-making process unfolds, it gives a unique chance to build consensus on the country's long-term destiny.
