Worldwide several novel accelerator technologies and future collider scenarios are being proposed along with possible advanced scientific applications. Among these are photon colliders, the Gamma factory, two versions of muon colliders, the use of plasmas, crystals or nanotubes for bending or acceleration, and employing storage rings or other accelerator technologies for the detection or acceleration of gravitational waves. Based on the results of six ARIES workshops, and through an online survey of the workshop participants, a ranking of far-future accelerator options has been performed, with regard to importance, maturity, potential impact on society, risk of failure and time scale for practical realization.
