This paper focuses on area affected by drought in percent of total area of the country, Annual growth of farm income in India during 2002-03 and 2012-13 and farm income of major states in India. Drought is a natural crisis which badly affects the agricultural production and productivity. The droughts not only affect the food production at the farm level but also the national economy and the overall food security as well. The year 1918 country seems to be affected as never before when 70 percent of Indian experienced drought. The second large scale drought was in year 1899 with 68 percent of the area affected
