Theater is actually a play with some characteristics, such as: freedom, temporary, having its own rule and purpose, and beyond daily needs. There is a hidden rule of games which is motivated in various theatrical performances. This paper aims to express several ‘rules of games at some theatrical performances in West Sumatera. This rules of game also called as ‘dimension of play’ of West Sumatera Theater since it creates a ‘space’ of performance. This dimension was made of three aspects, namely: (1) the play of rule and character, (2) the play of things and imaginations, (3) the play of language and rhetoric
