The Buddha explains in the Samanamandika Sutta, purity of livelihood as an aspect of sila. In this Sutta, that wholesome verbal and physical deeds and as well as purity of livelihood are included in morality ‘Ajiva parisuddha’ or purity of livelihood denotes use of wholesome verbal and physical actions as means of livelihood and this is same as right livelihood of the Noble Eightfold Path. According to the Sabbasava Sutta clothes, food, shelter and medicine are Professionals’ basic requirements. Clothes are necessary to protect oneself from cold and heat, flies and mosquitoes, wind and rain, to cover one’s nakedness and so on.
