The results of the influence of ionizing radiation on the operational properties of engine oil with metal-containing additives are presented. It was found that irradiation of mineral-based motor oil with various doses of gamma radiation does not significantly affect its viscosity and alkali value. Irradiation with low doses contributes to a decrease in the surface tension of the motor oil due to the activation of polar active additive components and the formation of additional polar active compounds, as well as an increase in electrical conductivity due to an increase in the concentration of ion-radical complexes, which has a positive effect on the performance properties of the engine oil.
