Motives of Ukrainian Folk Customs, Beliefs and Values in the Works of Taras Shevchenko

The objective. The study is related to the issue of the presence in specific forms of folk customs, beliefs and values in the creative work of T. Shevchenko, which testifies to the deep knowledge of the depths of the people’s world outlook and the essence of individual beliefs and viewpoints. However, it is important that for today's average reader these motives are basically a mystery from several unknowns. It is main direction is the analysis of the sources of folk beliefs in the works of the Ukrainian poet. To the analysis are attached with the creativity of T. Shevchenko, in which the motives of folk customs, beliefs and values were used. The research methodology consists in the use of historically-comparative, relative, and logistic methods. Their use contributes to diachronically analyze the phenomena of traditional culture, in particular, folk customs, beliefs and thinking and their use in the work of the Ukrainian poet. In some cases, elements of structural analysis are used to identify the essence of the material studied. The scientific novelty of the work is that in this study the creativity of T. Shevchenko is first revealed from the standpoint of not just a formal connection with Ukrainian traditional culture, but as a genre principle. This principle is based on the ancient worldview of the people, its customs, beliefs and viewpoints, which encompass the poet's poems entirely
