Phytophthora kernoviae is a pathogen that causes necrosis and death of trees and shrubs belonging to 15 different genera. The main hosts are Rhododendron ponticum and Fagus sylvatica. Heathland blueberries (Vaccinium myrtillus) and plants of the genera Magnolia sp., Drimys sp., Quercus sp., Vaccinium sp. and several others are infected. The rapid spread of infection and the extent of damage to many species of trees, shrubs and heath plants, indicates that the disease poses a serious threat especially in forested areas and heathlands. The first symptoms were found in 2003, in southwest England. The pathogen is also present in Ireland, Chile and New Zealand.PL; pl; PDF; kwarantanna@iorpib.poznan.p
