The purpose of this paper is to examine the play "Ruined" by Lynn Nottage and its portrayal of women's unity in the face of violence. This analysis focuses on the play's female characters and how they react to and cope with the play's setting of conflict and brutality in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. It employs postfeminist theoretical frameworks to investigate the cultural and historical aspects that contribute to women's understandings of and responses to violence. The play shows the women's fight for survival and their strength in the face of patriarchal tyranny. There are five main parts to this study.
